    A STUDY OF COMPOUND PARTICLES IN EMULSION

    An attempt is made to study the compound particles by taking black and shower particles together. Average compound particle multiplicity is found to vary linearly with heavily ionizing particle multiplicity but with black particle multiplicity it does not show a linear dependence. Dispersion of the compound multiplicity distribution has also been studied. The ratio of the mean number of compound particles to its dispersion for different target sizes has been calculated

    CHARACTERISTICS OF PARTICLES PRODUCED IN HADRON-NUCLEUS COLLISIONS

    A detailed study on mean multiplicities of secondary charged particles is presented. The average number of grey, black and heavy particles are found to be independent of energy in proton-nucleus interactions whereas for pion-nucleus collisions the data deviates from its independence with energy. The ratio of mean number of charged particles produced in pion-nucleus collisions to its number in proton-nucleus interactions at almost the same energy is found to be similar at different energies

    An Evaluation of the Fungi Isolated from Sub-epidermal Region of Post-harvested Stored Wheat Grains

    The criteria of wheat quality are as varied as their different uses. Wheat, which is suitable for a particular use / product, may have certain characters that make it entirely unsatisfactory for other purposes. The storage fungi damage the grains in several ways; they reduce the germinability, produce undesirable odor and kernel discoloration, decrease the food value and also produce toxins injurious to the health of consumers. The sub-epidermal mycoflora of stored wheat grains predominantly consisted of ubiquitous mould genera Aspergillus, Alternaria and Penicillium possibly because of their omnipresence, capacity to grow on all possible substrates and a wide range of temperature and humidity. The most frequent species observed in the stored wheat grains of Aspergillus were A. niger and A. fumigates, Alternaria alternata and Pencillium citrinum. Among these the frequency of Alternaria alternata was highest which has the capacity to produce mycotoxin which can contaminate and cause spoilage. The grain losses found in quantity and quality; can be in the form of depletion in seed viability, hardness, color, size and shape, grain weight and various biochemical parameters viz., protein, carbohydrate and vitamins under post harvest storages.     Use of Natural Antimicrobial Agents: A Safe Preservation Approach

    Microorganism contamination at various stages of food chain is one of the major causes for food spoilage that ultimately leads to food waste, increasing food insecurity issues and substantial economic losses. Various synthetic chemical preservatives are being used to control microbial food spoilage and to extend product shelf life. Researchers and consumers are discouraging the use of synthetic preservatives due to their negative health impacts. Naturally occurring antimicrobials have gained attention among researchers and food manufacturer due to their safety and nontoxic status. Natural preservatives are easy to obtain from plants, animals and microbes. These naturally occurring antimicrobial agents can be isolated from indigenous sources using various advanced techniques. Natural preservatives such as nisin, essential oils, and natamycin have effective potential against spoilage and pathogenic microorganisms. The regulations regarding the use of these naturally occurring preservatives are not well defined in some developing countries. This chapter focuses on source and their potential role, antimicrobial mechanism in food preservation, and current knowledge on the subject

    Hyperparameters analysis of long short-term memory architecture for crop classification

    Deep learning (DL) has seen a massive rise in popularity for remote sensing (RS) based applications over the past few years. However, the performance of DL algorithms is dependent on the optimization of various hyperparameters since the hyperparameters have a huge impact on the performance of deep neural networks. The impact of hyperparameters on the accuracy and reliability of DL models is a significant area for investigation. In this study, the grid Search algorithm is used for hyperparameters optimization of long short-term memory (LSTM) network for the RS-based classification. The hyperparameters considered for this study are, optimizer, activation function, batch size, and the number of LSTM layers. In this study, over 1,000 hyperparameter sets are evaluated and the result of all the sets are analyzed to see the effects of various combinations of hyperparameters as well the individual parameter effect on the performance of the LSTM model. The performance of the LSTM model is evaluated using the performance metric of minimum loss and average loss and it was found that classification can be highly affected by the choice of optimizer; however, other parameters such as the number of LSTM layers have less influence

    Enhanced Handover Mechanism in Long Term Evolution (LTE) Networks

    Femtocell is a low power base station, wireless access point designed especially for homes and small organizations. It is promising technology for operators to improve their capacity and for users to give indoor coverage. As mobile users are increasing day by day so the legacy system is unable to provide such a high data rates to all these users. In this case femtocells play a key role to offload the data traffic from macro base station. The implementation of femtocell has posed so many challenges like interference, localization, access control and mobility management. The aim of this paper is to present an enhanced algorithm for handover in Hand-In scenario. In already existing algorithms handover is decided on the basis of a single parameter but here we have simulated an algorithm that considers multiple parameters instead of a single parameter for handover. Through this algorithm, the most suitable femtocell will be selected for handover, hence number of handovers will be decreased. Simulation results show that the system performance has been improved.
